This is an extremely brief summary of Natural Hygiene. What is Natural Hygiene?

In the words of TC Fry….”Natural hygiene is in harmony with nature, in accord with the principals of vital organic existence, correct in science, sound in philosophy and ethics, in agreement with common sense, successful in practice, and a blessing to humankind.”
Natural Hygiene (also known as Life Science):
  • Defines ‘Health’ as being a condition of perfect development, a state of wholeness and harmonious development and growth and adaptation. It means that we feel completely well inside & out, that we feel whole & harmonious, that we feel strong in mind & body & clear in our thinking, and it means that we can run & skip & climb & jump & play & swim & crawl with total ease. It means that we positively glow, our eyes sparkle, our skin is clear, there is a bounce in our step & we are full of joy. It defines REAL health as our birthright.
  • Defines the body as an innate self-healing, self-governing organism, and it defines the disease process as an initiation of the body, rather than the result of an attack by ‘germs’. It details a seven-stage process of self-initiated healing. It recognizes that Toxaemia is the universal disease from which all other disease states arise. Toxaemia indicates a sub-optimal condition of the body caused by a neglect of the body’s essential necessities for real Health. It also recognizes that germs (bacteria, viruses, microbes) play an essential symbiotic role in our body’s healthy function and that they only become problematic when toxaemia is present & ongoing.
  • Defines the essential needs for real Health including: «  Fresh, clean air  «  Fresh, clean water «  Cleanliness—inside & out (like washing hands, cleaning teeth, showering etc) «  Sleep «  Temperature maintenance – not too hot, not too cold. Must be just right.  «  Pure wholesome food to which we are designed to eat. «  Exercise and activity «  Sunshine upon our bodies «  Rest and relaxation «  Play and recreation «  Emotional poise (this means being calm in whatever situation) «  Feeling safe & secure «  Pleasant environment «  Creative, useful work «  Self-Mastery (being in control of ourselves) «  Belonging –feeling loved.
  • It determines the human dietetic character based on comparitive biology & observing the design & function of our digestive systems. It defines our perfect foods as being high in carbohydrates & lower in proteins & fats. It defines a wholefood plant-based stimulant-free diet as the most optimum for real Health. Foods should be in their whole, natural  raw state for optimum digestio & assimilation of all available nutrients.
  • It defines an alkaline body to be ideal for real Health.
  • It discourages the use of supplements, drugs, refined & fractioned foods & beverages, cooking foods, & other such poisons that add to the toxic load of the body.  Suuplements are fractioned & isolated nutrients which do not occur as such in nature. Scince has not yet discovered all nutrients & their synergistic co-factors, therefore taking isolated nutrients is illogical & dangerous.
  • NH defines the fastest way to heal almost all conditions is a complete physiological rest through the practice of water-only  fasting. However, First Aid & some surgical procedures are acceptable until the body is given the complete physiological rest that it needs & re-intorduced to a Hygienic Lifestyle.
  • It takes us full-circle back to the ‘Garden’ & encourages organic gardening & sustainable food production.
  • Natural Hygiene is applicable to all ages & stages of Human Life.
